At a time when Black students lacked a cohesive support system that was aware of their Pomona College experiences, this Black Student Union was created by Black students for Black students to acknowledge the plurality.

The Pomona College Black Student Union was founded by Black students for Black students to support and celebrate our collective experiences. Ever since, we have aimed to validate all identities - past, present, and future - within our community by fostering a space where all expressions of our Blackness can be affirmed. By stressing inclusivity, creating sustainable legacies, and advocating for an agenda that meets the needs of the Black community, Pomona BSU will continue to be an agency that uplifts and empowers all students of African descent.
